Sometimes I feel like a complete alien, living in a world I don't understand and in some ways really hate because it just does not make sense to me and most are oblivious as to why they do the things they do, come what may. Today is Halloween, a yearly ritual of pumpkin carving, dressing up like ghouls, ghosts and gremlins, trick or treating, any excuse to stop thinking about real life for a while. This kind of pointless tradition serves no purpose in reality and has become part of our copied pattern behaviour passed down the generations that only makes big business even richer.
Halloween is then followed by bonfire night, another ritual event and reason to stay on the treadmill of unnecessary expense and pressure, a pointless celebration that is so unkind to animals and nature. Then of course there is the three month build up to one day called Christmas when lights in every city and in almost every home are switched on in October even though the UK has a massive energy shortage, go figure!
The truth is all these pointless celebrations in reality, if we are honest, all come with dread, unnecessary expensive and are over in a flash. So why do we keep doing it? Status and not wanting to feel like an alien because you cannot bear not to keep up with the Jones, is all in your head because no one actually gives a fig about what you do. They are too busy thinking about themselves. So my advice; let it all slip by and do something different and new for a change.
